best pull-up shade ever
use on my French doors and totally blocks out the light for day time sleeping. -
to Decorate and for privacy -
Very Nice. Just what I needed for a high foyer window. -
I would buy these shades again !!!
I like the way they keep the sun out of our kitchen they will be great for the summer!! -
Perfect for those who need day time sleep 4
Blocks out that sun you fight when you need to just go to sleep, because you have to start a 12 hour shift at 7PM till 7AM. Bedroom window is narrow, but kinda long. This fits the inside part of window perfectly with nothing to bunch up or down. Still thinking of whatt o do with the single tie, just hangs there, lol -
It's dark in here!
I use the curtains in my bedroom to darken the room for my husband as he works nights and sleeps during the day. They were easy to hang and only to a few minutes to hang. I love them. -
perfect shades for every room--like mine
these are hanging in my bedroom they let the right amount of sunlight in -
Affordable, great quality and practical!
These look attractive in the log cabin. Also, I have 5 large dogs and when they jump up to look out the windows the shade is durable enough to withstand the challenge. -
Blackout shade works
Order the Chocolate color to go in our bedroom works great blocking out neighbors outside lights that shine in our bedroom. Now I can get to sleep at night. -
blocks out light & is light!
I gave these to my grandson because even with blinds, his dorm room window faced east and the sun was very bright every morning. These worked great! -
can't make them look like the picture, -
Theylook really nice
Better than I expected
I bought these curtains to decrease the sunlight on my front porch and to decrease the amount of heat from the sunlight. It has worked exactly as I hoped it would, allowing increased use of my porch time. -
I would buy this again
Bought shade for living room. It looks good and gives me plenty of light when pulled up. Have 2 more coming in for my bedroom. -
Great product, just what I needed.
I use this in my dining room to block out the sun, that was fading the carpet. -
It was accurate.
I use it to block out intense sun in my kitchen, It works very well. I would have like a little more leeway as to how high I could pull them up. -
Very Nice - Good Buy
These curtains are great except that I can't figure out how to pull up the center cord and make them look like the picture. Have tried several different ways. So for now, am just leaving them hang down.
They are great for blocking the sun in the windows. -
Different In A Good Way
These are great for a room you want to black out. I purchased the dark colors (red & brown). In my opinion they will need a valance or side curtains to create a complete window (raised or lowered). -
Blackout Shade but color not as expected
I ordered the shades in rose and the color is more lavender but they do the job. The color also has black specs running through it (I assume is because they are black out). They do not roll up high but that was expected from the picture. I'm keeping them because they are reasonably priced and they do the job in my nursery. -
I put these in an extra bedroom that needed some extra darkening. They have worked well, but they are not blackout coverings, if that is what you need. I get compliments on these all the time. Since the room is not used much, they remain in the pulled up style. The room has 4, 36" wide windows and they do an adequate job, but an extra inch would have made them perfect. Overall, I really like them! -
Best shade ever
I was very excited when I put the shade up but it is hard to pull the string at the bottom and does not go up as easy as it should but other than that it is a very nice looking -
Looks lightweight but really does the job blocking light. -
Does the job
In guest rooms, just wished the white was a real white not grey -
Very easy to assemble. Must buy rod that wa
I love the blinds. I love the fact that I can wash them and not worry about my cat tearing them up like she does the mini blinds. -
Beautiful curtain but couldn't get the desi
I used this curtain in my kitchen. Terrific for privacy & attractive on window. -
A new neighbor added a security light which shined into my bedroom window. Even with blinds the light came threw these worked just great. I only wished they could be pulled clear up during the day to let light in. -
Do the job
These shades do the job. I read the other comments and decided to purchase them anyway. I had new windows installed and I lost the room or space I had with my shades I had up there previously and couldn't put those shades back up. So I purchased a couple of spring curtain rods, had enough room to hang these pull up shades. Yes the picture wasn't,at first, near to when I first put them up. I just let them hang for a couple of days and they were better. Once the shades relaxed from the packaging and hanging, they were easier to adjust to the way I wanted. They do block out the sun and keep the room cooler. Now that the season is changing I will see how they insulate from the colder weather. -
great looking for price
in very high windows in
great room to
bright sun -
sent it back
I don't believe the listing for the product indicated length. It should. My windows are only 48" high. These curtains must be 80"or more. The curtains looked as if the would darken the room nicely and seemed as if they would be easy to use but were just too long. -
Really keep out light
When pulled up, these do not look like the picture. And as one other reviewer said, I wish they pulled up higher. But I have a window that allows me to prop it up on the middle casing. -
nice but could not make them work
like the material the color was perfect, but just could
not get them to hang properly and one was too small for my larger window. -
i have not hung these yet. looking for a special rod. i am sure i will be very pleased with them. -
not as great as I hoped
In my spare bedroom. They do keep out the cold air. -
Worth the money
Purchased for winter use. If they keep out the cold as well as they darken, will be very happy. -
These fabric shades were certainly easy to install with tension rods. I purchased them as a temporary fix in my seasonal home, but since they didn't fit my décor, I decided to use something else. -
It is very nice but defintely not beige.
The color was all wrong but it is made well. Am sending it back. -
not better than blinds
to expencive for the quality of the product -
Hard to get to look like the picture
The shade arrived without details about how to tie up the cord once the curtain has been pulled up. I have not found anyway to get it up and out of the way so that it doesn't look "balled" up either from inside or outside. It doesn't hang like the photo shows. -
Hard to get it to gather up like shown
This product is difficult to make look like the picture. I tried and tried, but it just won't hang like it does in the picture. Excellent heavy material -- very well made. -
These shades are great for keeping the light/heat out, HOWEVER,, they do not pull as nicely or as pretty as described and shown. I have mine pinned across the bottom due to this. They are not attractive from the outside because the seam shows,(running up the middle) and the room I have them in and needed them for faces the street. -
SAN ANTONIO, TX
Not as expected
I put these in our guest room. I have had them for a few years now and I can never get them to flow like the picture when I put them up. They never have the "elegant gather" look, they just look bunched up. They do keep out alot of the light though. -
not thrilled, BUT I made it work
These curtains are not as shown. You cannot tie them up. They are not was wide as promised. I was afraid of that, so I ordered 2. I pulled the tie to the height that I wanted (on both) and pinned in the back to the top of the tab. I just ordered a third one to make it full enough. my window is 52". -
would have been nice to get the right color
check comments on other questions. -
Not as advertised
This item was advertised to be 63 inches long, which is just what I was looking for. When I got the item and installed it, there was a gap at the bottom and when I measured it, it only measured 61.5 inches long. I had to tear apart the lower seam so that it would cover the window with no gap at the bottom. Was not happy, good thing I know how to use a sewing machine. -
Glen Saint Mary, FL
more promise than action
This product didn't meet my expectations. When pulled up to make them the right length, there is a major gap in the fabric. This completely takes away the light blocking effect. When let down, they do block light, but hang several inches down below the window, which looks bad. If they were adjustable without leaving the gap, they would be great. -
pull up shade
do not be fooled by the picture, it looks nothing like that and the design with only one drawstring is horrible, it does not allow you to shape it at all much less draw it that short!!!!!!Wish I had paid more attention to the rating before ordering, I understand now why it rates so low -
Not as shown
My sister purchased these shades for her living room bay windows. The color was beautiful, but the shades don't pull up as shown. Also, there's no way to keep them at the height wanted, as there is only one cord to pull. They look very sloppy from the outside. -
Hazel Crest, IL
Expectations cut short
They should give you the ability to pull up as far as you would like--stops to short for me -
The blind did not hang well and the gathering would not stay in place. It needed to be wider to have some gathering on the rod. -
Not for me
I wanted to use these shades for the many windows in our master suite. We put up one and found that it just did not look as elegant as we had hoped, nor could we get it to drape the way the pictures indicated.
The second time I tried using the pull-string to adjust the shade, the string came out altogether.
We are returning them. -
Not quite what I expected
I bought these specifically for our rec room to block light from the TV, which has a terrible glare. They look so nice in the catalog, and perhaps the beige would be prettier, but mine look cheap. I still haven't figured out how to tie the things up with the one string provided, and even when I fasten it with pins, it looks nothing like the photos. -
Not worth it
Even after reading the reviews, I thought I could be the one to get this shades to work.....not!
THEY DO NOT LOOK LIKE THE PICTURE AT ALL.
if you want something to keep the light out--these are fine. But adjustability is not their thing. I will keep looking.
These are going back -
staten island ny
They look terrible not at all like the picture, not even close. I am in the process of returning them. Don't waste your time or money. -
I ordered white / the color looks more like
I have not installed the product as it does not seem to look right . -
Elegant blackout pull-up shade
I used a tie back as the pull up did not look at all like the picture. very disappointed but they look ok with the tie back I found. -
Park Falls WI.
This product did not look like picture
I was very disappointed in this product. I could not get it to look like the picture. It also did not come with directions. Would not buy again! -
The shades work ok, but THEY DO NOT MATCH!!!! I was able to alter them so they sort of match, but one of the pockets in which the drawstring is located is longer than the other. Because we have family visiting, and I really needed the shades, I could not take the rime to re-order. -
Doesn't gather elegantly
sticks out when gathered -
Picture much better than the real thing
The picture shows a very elegant shade. Didn't want to use sheers or blinds so purchased these because I buy a lot from this company and am satisfied all the time. But these are terrible! no instruction to tell what to do with the cord when you gather them. They don't hang like in the picture and they are more silver than beige which is an issue with me!! Already threw away the packing slip because I never thought they would be like this and as I said I am always satisfied with your merchandise...what a disappointment!!! they are also overpriced -
lots of work
I had to wrip off center drawstring and resew in center of fabric -
Don't buy this product
Terrible product -
Caution Before Buying
I read the reviews and still purchased these curtains because the style was very attractive to me. There is a seam on the backside of the curtain that will show when you look at the window from the outside - these were purchased for windows in the front of my house so I was very disappointed with this feature. Additionally there are lines marked on the backside of the curtain were the seam should have been sewn so these also from the front of my house. I will be returning these. -
Virginia Beach, VA
A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT
I purchased two and they do not look like they are the same color: one looks gray and the other looks beige.
It's impossible to get them to look like the picture.
They are NOT blackout, i.e., light does come into the bedroom (where I planned to use them).
Returning them would be a hassle for me -- I am elderly and the postoffice is in another town(I do not live in the town which is my mailing address). -
An expensive mistake
I purchased the beige which turned out to be a silvery gray color. The shade is not room darkening but it does block some of the light. When I pulled the shade down to cover the window the pull cord was drawn so far up inside the casing that I could not retrieve it. This item was a complete waste of money. -
Picture looks better than actual product
Looked so much better in the picture. Made very cheaply. Not attractive at all. Very disappointed. Snags in the material. I will be senting them back! -
Not all it's cracked up to be!!!
This product was beautiful in the picture. I just knew it would look great in my living room. I couldn't have been more wrong!! When my husband hung it up, it looked nothing like the picture! I tossed it and played with it for well over an hour! I am returning it! It's a shame...I really liked the way it hung in the picture! -
Not so Elegant Blackout Pull-up Shade
After putting the shades up, they did not look neat, they do not keep out the sun as stated, and when I raised them, they do not look appealing at all but just bunch up very unattractive. I was very unhappy with this purchase because normally I am very satisfied with all I buy from here. -
Liz.bit the online buyer.,
Not pleased with construction of product
The sewing on these is extremely poor, so much so, that I will not be using them. The silver on the back is not going to look nice from the outside either. Disappointed to say the least. -
shade is ok but had a stain line
Product was stained no instructions on how to tie up the gather regular window and it does not gather at top color wasn't beige more of a grey color will not buy again -
Does not hang well -
Do Not Buy
The picture was deceiving. Initially I thought the people commenting didn't know how to adapt the curtains. WRONG! The curtains really had to be manipulated to get them to appear as they did and I wouldn't doubt that spray starch might have been involved. Don't waste your time or money. -
do not like at all, very cumbersome
just do not like it at all. -
Not what it's cracked up to be
I like the color and it does block the lites , however a pole should have been given for assembling....the cord hangs down after u pull the cord . Disappointed but price wise it's good. -
San Antonio texas
Poor design, string hangs down
I use it in my launder room which is at the back door -

black out pull up shade
Could not figure out how to pull drapes up to make them look similar to catalog. -
Not quite what we expected.
Could not get the curtain to look as advertised. Keeps sliding down the pull cord. -
not as shown, appears grey
disappointed, I needed white, this appears grey do to black dots in material. -
Product was lousy not service or delivery -
I would not buy this again
It looks very sloppy when hung up. -
NOT AT ALL AS ADVERTIZED IN CATALOG
CANNOT USE AS SHOWN IN CATALOG. PULLING UP ON STRIP DOES NOT FLOW AS IN PICTURE. NOT AT ALL WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS. -
WARWICK, RI 02886
IT WAS INFRIOR QUALITY -
Absolutely terrible purchase
This was my first ever purchase with this company. It will be my last.
These are advertised as black out curtains. They are NOT black out curtains. If they had been listed as room-darkening, that still would have been a stretch. They are also not well made. I am so disappointed that I spent $40 to purchase 2 of these. The don't look like the picture when they are hung, the ends do not fold nicely together, so they look terrible. And they pull cord that raises them frayed on the very first pull (on both curtains). Terrible construction. Not worth the money. And the idea of spending $8 just for the privilege to send them back is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous.
I will be hard pressed to ever order from Collections, Etc. again. The product was nothing like it was described and was cheaply made...and the return policy is COMPLETELY unfriendly to the consumer. This tells me that Collections Etc. does not stand behind the products they sell. -
The color was perfect and fabric felt good, so I immediately ordered more. After reading the directions for laundering several times, I washed the shades gently in cold water and hung them. The darkening shades were see-through, the drape looked more like rags than shades, and they looked as if some rags from a dollar store were hung in the window. They couldn't be made to look like the illustration in the catalogue with repeated tries. I have returned all of them and am grateful that the return process is easy (with a computer). -
Not at all what they look like
Poorly made, Sewn crooked, the pucker is by drawstring that isn't centered, hangs/drapes poorly and only one string to draw it makes the outer corners meet in the center, unless the pull is centered one tail is longer than the other and even if it is centered you have a gap/slit that you need to sew together to make it look like the picture. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Unless you totally remake it you can not get it to look like the picture. -
