  • Results vary with the breed of dog or cat

Comb worked well on my dog but my cat's hair was too fine. The cat was anxious about the noise but it didn't bother the dog. I would recommend the comb for it is a great way to groom the dog or cat. - , Idaho

  • Greatly disappointed

I am so disappointed in this product. It is touted to take knots out of dogs and long haired cats. NOPE! It won't even begin to take the knots out of my long-haired cat's coat. Plus the sound frightens her so much, she will fight and run. Not blaming Collections Etc., but the manufacturer for false advertising. Perhaps Collections Etc. should test products on their own before selling them. - , Missouri

  • On Line Shopper

This is a well designed comb but does not work on short haired pets. You need a length of hair for the blades to cut through the matts. I have a short haired cat that has fur like a rabbit & it matts easily. It will not cut her matts because the blades are up higher than the matts in her fur. Will probably work well on my Persian. - , Richmond, VA.

  • did not 'groom'

I was hoping to 'trim' my long haired dog and this tool will not do that. We don't have tangles so I do not know if it would help there. I was just expecting more from the 'cutter' and it is not there. - , AZ

  • Knot Out - NOT!

Very overrated. This does not get the knots out of my small Maltese. I can't imagine what it would do for a big dog. The comb stops when it gets to the knot and just pulls like a regular comb would. It does not cut through the knot. - , WI

  • Do not waste your money on this product!

This product is a waste of money. Couldn't get the batteries installed correctly because of the poor design. After I finally figured that out I tried this on my cat who gets knotty and it didn't work. I tried several times and had to cut the knots out like I usually do. Total waste of money! - , Boston, Mass

  • Not as good as advertised

Purchased the Knot Out to remove tangles from my long haired cat. It's noisy and scares her. It wouldn't cut the large tangles and doesn't comb very well. - , Zionville, NC

  • Never performed

Item arrived without "pick." When I went to install batteries the "terminal" in the handle fell out and I lost it. I couldn't tell from the markings which was the positive and which was the negative ports and since the one in the handle fell out, I couldn't tell which way to put it back in. Didn't matter anyway since it got lost. Comb is useless without the cutting feature. I have other combs for grooming but nothing for "deknotting." - , Sacramento, CA

  • Grooming Comb

I have a long haired cat that has TONS of hair. The comb just glides thru his hair. When it comes to the knots way down to his skin, the comb is useless. I really had hoped this comb would work. But it doesn't. I also can't imagine it working on Goldens. Their hair is much denser than my cats. This cat has so much hair his legs look like stumps. - , Michigan

  • "Knot Out" Not for Cats

The usual fine-toothed comb I use on one of my cats, Grace, works so well that she looks forward to her weekly combing. Unfortunately, she is overweight and cannot clean her back in the spinal area near her tail. With two other cats who can control their food intake, we cannot keep all food away from her but I digress. The first time I used Knot Out on Grace, the noise startled her and she ran off. It might have been the vibration that caused her negative reaction--she's not talking about it. I don't believe this comb is appropriate for most cats, as they are as a rule sensitive to unusual noises. Thus, I cannot comment on the effectiveness of this product nor its quality of construction as I am unable to use it for Grace's needs. I'm giving it to a friend whose dog seems to like it. - , Santa Maria, CA

  • Not good with larger matted cat hair

My cat has lots of matted hair. The tool works on small matted hair but it is really not that great for bigger matted hair. it requires two people to get out the matted hair. we had to cut the mats down then run the tool through again. and again.... and again..... and again... and again. get the picture? - , Albuquerque, NM

  • Not good on Long Haired Cats

I bought this product to use on my two long haired cats. They do have the thinner silky hair so I can't speak for the heavier coated type. The comb has it's teeth too thick & too far apart. You cannot get under a knot. It combs right over them! Then after a few times combing only (no knots removed) it quit working. I checked the batteries and they were still good, new actually. Replaced them just incase but had to disassemble it (screw so tight you can easily round off the head) to find a roller about the size of a bic pen where the hair gets caught. This is what the blades are on. So when you get a small portion on hair (not Knots) you have to pull it apart to remove the hair. It's wrapped up like a vacuum brush. They give you a tiny pick on the end of the cover but you will do best with your own pick and a small razor knife. I was going to return it but thought I'd give it to a friend that has long haired dogs to see what she thinks. The comb will probably work better but you will be consistently taking it apart to remove the hair before it starts working again. Looks great on commercials but isn't! - , Cardington Ohio
